University Of Nigeria Enugu Campus Set to Reopen On August 8th, Students To Pay N10,000 Reparation


Following the indefinite suspension of the campus on 15th June 2016, students of University of Nigeria Enugu Campus has remained at their respective homes. Some clamoured for the reopening as they were tired of staying at home.
Well, what seems to be a good news emanated from the meeting held by the school Senate.

Our correspondent gathered that the following resolution was reached by the committee.




“Senate Emergency Meeting 25/7/16
Vice Chancellor briefed Senate on shutting of unec for reason of student demonstration and destruction of property.
Similar things happened at Ibadan, Ife, Unilag. Students have not changed their violent disposition.
A panel was set up to investigate the root cause of the demonstration and the extent of damage.
Recommendations:
1. Two generators
2. Two water tankers
3. Synergy between Unec and EEDC
4. Improvement of I.c.t facilities
5. S.U.G to be suspended even with the recall of students
6. Security department to be overhauled
7. Evaluation of the extent of damage and enforce the payment of 10,000 naira by each student
8. Discourage staff from renting out their Bq’s and apartment to students.

Motion for the re-opening of Unec was moved by Prof. Malachy Ukwueze and was seconded. This motion was approved by the Senate.

Re-opening date: August 8, 2016, examination will start two weeks after.
